Mayflower 400 Celebrations in Year 1

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the first half term already! We would normally have been able to invite parents/families into school to share our learning with you. Sadly, this is not possible this year, but we still want to share our learning!

We have learned all about the Mayflower and the Pilgrim's voyage to America. We even had a Historian from The Box come in to bring the history to life! Over the last half term we have learned about the voyage, the passengers on board, the food they ate and what life was like when they first arrived in Plimouth, America. During the last week we learned about the different Harvest vegetables (the golden 3 - beans, corn and squash) and after scooping out pumpkin seeds, we got to try some cooked pumpkin and seeds! It wasn't very yummy, but luckily we all got to have s'mores around the fire in forest school - these went down much better!

Have a look at some of the pictures from our learning!

Have a safe and relaxing half term!

The Year 1 Team :)
