Art
At Lipson Vale Primary School we believe Art plays an important part in increasing our children’s well-being as well as letting their creativity shine.
Art is taught through a theme based curriculum. This means children’s learning is current and meaningful. These lessons equip children with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent, create and evaluate their own works of art, craft and design.
In Early years the children learn through mark making. They develop their fine and gross motor skills through play based learning.
In KS1 and KS2 the children also learn about various artists and their work and develop a progression of skills. They have the opportunity to build on their skills and this is demonstrated in their sketch books.
Additionally, we have been lucky enough to be involved with projects that help the children to connect with local artists. Last term Sean Hewitt was invited to work alongside the Year 5 children to make ancient Greek coins and we hope to share some of these with you soon.
